How to Choose an Independent Minifigure Store

Before ordering from an independent minifigure store, compare the evidence behind the pictures, what one order includes, delivery terms and the route to help.

Brick-built laptop, magnifying glass and checklist for evaluating a store

Choose an independent minifigure store by checking what it sells, the evidence for the product, the complete delivered cost and how it handles problems. A polished page is useful, but it cannot answer those questions on its own. Save the relevant Listing and policies before ordering, and ask about anything that is still unclear.

This checklist is for collectors comparing ready-made physical minifigures and MOC display sets. It is a way to assess a shop's disclosures, not an independent certification or a ranking of the best sellers.

Start with the kind of product you want

A MOC offer can be a digital instruction download, a parts kit, a complete physical set or a ready-made figure. A custom-printed figure can also be a stock design rather than a made-to-order service. Read the selling unit and product description; the words “MOC” and “custom” alone do not settle what will arrive.

Parts origin is a separate question. Ask the seller to explain any brand or material claims and whether printing, accessories or base components come from another source. Do not infer a licensed or official product from a familiar shape or a character resemblance.

Use pictures as evidence, then check their limits

Look for views of the face, torso, back, equipment and complete selling unit. A front-only photo can hide a missing attachment or make a small group look like a larger set. Distinguish a product reference, a real product photograph and a labelled style preview. If exact appearance is important, request current actual-product photos before placing the order.

A video or 360° area is useful when real media are present. An empty reserved position does not prove that the item has been filmed or scanned. Likewise, a display scene may include background pieces that are not part of the purchase.

A five-point comparison checklist

  • Selling unit: Is quantity 1 a single figure or a complete set? Are the pictured shields, weapons, horses and base included?
  • Product evidence: Are image types labelled, details visible and unknown measurements stated clearly?
  • Delivery: Which destinations are supported, where does it dispatch from, and when does the delivery clock start?
  • Total cost: What are the item subtotal, shipping threshold and any applicable checkout charges?
  • After-sales: Can you find a working contact channel, return instructions and a missing-part procedure?

Apply the checklist to a real set

The Medieval Knight set sells as six ABS figures. Each includes a helmet, plume, toy spear and shield. The figures are described as standard minifigure height; the exact assembled measurement is not supplied, and helmets and plumes increase the overall display height. That makes the selling unit clear without pretending to know a precise measurement.

The Roman Chariot & Legion display set is a different purchase: eleven figures, two horses, a chariot, the pictured equipment and a base. Compare the complete contents rather than comparing only the headline number of figures. Our army-set contents guide explains this check in more detail.

Questions collectors ask

Does an attractive website prove a store is trustworthy?

No. Check whether its product claims and policies are specific and consistent, and use independent evidence when it is available. A shop's own policy is a disclosure, not proof of every customer's experience.

Does buying several sets mean I have a wholesale order?

No. Retail multi-set purchases, reseller arrangements and bespoke production are different services. Our current catalog is ready-made retail merchandise; this guide does not offer a custom-printing or wholesale agreement.

What should I ask before buying?

Ask: “What exactly comes in one order, can I see current product photos, and what happens if a part is missing?” Use our support page for questions about a specific Listing.
